Active learning actuallyrnhas been developed in a lot of the schools in big cities, since eighties.rn— And now is still disseminated in to all schools in all parts of therncountr by issuing the new government regulationabout standard of learningrnprocess, which is derived from humanism and constructivism theories. So,rnwhat is active learning, and how to make students engage in learning process,rnand how it can arise learning achievement of the student?rnActive learning is an instructional activities involving students in doing thingsrnand thinking about what they are doing (Bonweel and James A Eison, 1991).rnActive learning invites the students to involve on reading, discussing, reviewingrneach other, analyzing, and synthesizing, and making evaluation together withrnthe teacher. Educators should avoid take all the time to present their lesson,rnand involving the students only for listening the presentation from the teacher..rnActive learning should involve the students in all process of learning, sincernthe beginning until the end. The position of the teacher just as the facilitatorrnto facilitate the students on exploring learning materials, elaborating the topics•rnof learning, discussing each other, and gathering the students to promote thernconclusion. If the process of learning has already done in such activities, the.rnteachers and the students have completely done active learning and alsorncollaborative learning, because the teacher and the studnts have alreadyrncollaborated in learning process.rnActually, all those learning strategies were designed to provide the studentsrnexplore learning resource and expand their understanding, enhancing theirrnbelief, and awareness social construction of their new knowledge. Allrnrecômménded strategies were more than 25 learning strategies, that push thernstudents to be actively in learning process, and the results of the study notrnonlý improving students’ cognition, but more then it, strengthening theirrnbelief, affective domain and reconstruction of their social culture.rnDue to all those reforms, the research agenda of Board for Research andrndevelopment Jakarta, in the late of ten years since year 2000 until 2010, werernfocused on developing learning models on implementing humanisticrneducational theory amongst students of Madrasah Aliyah. The area of research,rnwere evaluation of the effectiveness of curriculum, education for skill capacityrnof students, school management, learning methods, and evaluation. And thernresearch activities have discovered that all those madrasah students are skillfulrnand ready to enter a market as well. And generally, the teachers of MadrasahrnAliyah;are skilfulon practicing all humanistic education methods.
