The book Fathfinding A New Path of Islam : Reconstruction of Indonesia Thoughts within the New Order Epoch written by Fahry Ah and Bahtiar Effendy tries to portray the Indonesian Islamic thoughts developed ince the fall down of the Old-Order (orde lama) regime which was structurally conditioned by Nasionalist, Religionist, and Communist (Nasionalis, Agama, dan Komunis/NASAKOM) ideological nuance. The writers offer socio-historical analysis in a wide spectrum on the patterns, development and its causal factors influencing on such pattern of thoughts. This effort, ofcourse, become very important for the readers to understand “the standings, message contents, and orientation of the Islamic thoughts” have already developed in Indonesia particularly and in the world-wide in general with a comprehensive account. Beside through this rich intellectual discourse regarding partly with the map of Islamic thoughts, the readers will be wisely realized that the universalism or internationalism--both philosophically, culturally, and religiously based--was predominant factors affecting the emergence and development of the new Islamic thoughts in Indonesia.
